Established in 1880, the Home provides the Kentuckiana community with a range of important residential, treatment and community-based programs to medically complex children and children and families in the child welfare system.

The operating budget totals almost $50 million with programs that include offering a haven for at-risk children; pediatric medical care; shelter and education for pregnant and parenting teens; crisis and intervention services; clinical treatment services and therapeutic loving foster and adoption services. The Home also operates a pediatric convalescent center for children who are dependent on technology to sustain life, as well as children who are terminally ill.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Vice President of Development, in partnership with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and President & CEO, is responsible for all the Home's philanthropic activities with contributed revenue totaling more than $11.5 million. This role provides leadership and oversight of resource development strategies and activities including major gifts, planned giving, grants, annual giving, special events, communications, and stewardship. The successful candidate must be a strategic thinker able to consistently and efficiently work on multiple projects including a major capital campaign currently in its silent phase. As The Home has state-wide presence, there is a tremendous opportunity to increase funding to represent the entire region it serves. Four team members report to the VP. This position works closely with the CSO, CEO, and Board of Directors to secure philanthropic support for current and future comprehensive campaigns. The VP will be called to make presentations to the Board and be engaged with the strategic planning process. Work can be performed in a hybrid manner or onsite.

CANDIDATE PROFILE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop strategies to engage diverse donors including individual, corporate, foundation, and government entities.
• Establish solicitation priorities for comprehensive campaign in collaboration with CSO, CEO, and Development team.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts for comprehensive campaign.
• Oversee recruitment, support, and management of volunteer leadership for the campaign in collaboration with CSO, CEO, and Development Team.
• Manage the writing and development of all campaign print and electronic collateral materials and coordinate their design and production with the Home's Public Relations team.
• Oversee development of campaign communications program, which may include writing content for e-newsletter and talking points for the media; integrate campaign milestones into ongoing public relations program.
• Identify, plan, and implement cultivation and recognition events for the campaign, including groundbreakings, site visits, tours, and dedication ceremonies.
• Ensure that data related to prospects and donors is recorded and tracked; manage campaign record keeping, evaluate progress towards goals.
• Prepare periodic reports on campaign fundraising for the Board of Directors and Executive Team.
• Recommend revisions to the fundraising plan, as needed, to meet and exceed goals.
• Prepare regular progress reports for the CSO, CEO, and Campaign Chair.
• Oversee budget development and monitoring for any development activities related to the campaign and all philanthropy initiatives.
• Design donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and public recognition initiatives.?
• Oversee, monitor, and report regular progress of various programs within the Development area, including major gifts, grants, and annual fund.
• Develop overall strategy to build Home of the Innocents' philanthropy brand in partnership with the Vice President of Public Relations.
• Participate in strategic planning for organization and implement department's areas of plan.
• Develop and implement strategies to meet budgeted goals for fundraising.
• Serve on various committees as directed by the CSO and CEO including the Stakeholder Engagement committee for the Board of Directors and Associate Board.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree is required or 6 years of fundraising experience in lieu of education.
• 5-7 years of senior fundraising experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Led or participated in a previous comprehensive capital or endowment campaign.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and securing new five-to-six-figure foundation grants.
• Demonstrated success with generating increased funds from individual donors, both major donors and annual appeals, through a coordinated, strategic approach.
• Knowledge of planned giving and experience with online fundraising preferred.
• Hands-on experience with one or more donor databases/software, such as Raiser's Edge, DonorPerfect, etc.
• Demonstrated success in learning the details of an organization's purpose, vision, and values and applying that knowledge in drafting successful fundraising solicitations.
• Demonstrated success in conducting initial outreach to prospective foundations/donors, arranging for organizational leadership to meet with prospective donors/foundations, and successfully preparing them for those meetings.
• Experience with the coordination and preparation of budgets preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with staff, Board members, donors, and community stakeholders.
• Excellent writer, and effective and compelling communicator, specifically when presenting and speaking with board members, prospective donors and partners.
• Must support the purpose, vision, and core values of Home of the Innocents. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The Home of the Innocents is prepared to offer a competitive salary in the range of $110,000 - 115,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance, life insurance, vacation and sick time, parking stipend, 401k contribution, and a diverse offering of voluntary benefits.
